Taking a significant step towards making tennis and padel sustainable
The basis for the ball was an important innovation: clean separation of felt and rubber of old balls. As far as we know, no other company has succeeded in this critical step. This innovation by Renewaball opened the door to the first recyclable tennis ball. It was an important breakthrough for sustainability everywhere, more so when you realise the little known but pretty huge eco-footprint of a tennis/padel ball and the vast amounts in which they are produced.
This first ball (2019) was mainly a proof of concept: "Can a tennis ball be made from tennis balls at all?" Several significant improvements to the production process have led to the current Renewaball product range: replacing nylon felt by pure biodegradable felt, wool and cotton.. The Renewaball tennis ball is now ITF approved. Additionally, we introduced the first circular padel ball, which is both, IPF and FEP approved.
Behind Renewaball there is a team of experienced entrepreneurs, global marketers and innovators, operating from a deep technical and operational knowledge of recycling processes, production, and logistics.
